There is a lot of hype surrounding rescue, the use of it's word and interoperation there after. Please regard, these are my opinions alone, understand that my opinion holds no ground unless you put voice to it. When you take a horse from a situation that is less then ideal- emotional and physical abuse is very real.
Once this animal is in your care, you are no longer allowed to refer to it as a 'rescue' a) because you are demeaning an animal you care for. and b) that is no longer a part of it's life. You now commit to your future together- whatever that may be.
Whether you take a horse from auction, buy from a breeder or collect from a meat truck, the only person you have to prove anything to is yourself.
2001 SPCA case, neglect. Appy x, very little training. This 'kid' showed up for me when I forgot to believe in myself, he competed for me at local level scored high 60's in dressage, evented once, jumpt 2'6" and carried my youngest child for the first time. He gave lessons to beginners at Ocean Breeze Stables between 2008-2012.
You can't look at a horse and know his future. And the best part? Is what he gives back to you.
